First Month Free for Helixrack's First Customer

On December 4, 2022, we opened a one-customer introductory offer for Helixrack’s first production deployment. Eligibility closed on January 1, 2023, and the promotion has expired.

The purpose was straightforward: give one hardware owner a defined way to try a new colocation service while the first Elizabeth room was still small.

The original terms

The 2022 offer applied to one customer-owned server under these terms:

• The customer would purchase and retain ownership of the server.
• We would receive, inspect, install, power, cool, and connect it.
• Monthly service was $85 and included one public IPv4 /32 on an isolated VLAN.
• The first month would be free only if the server entered production by January 1, 2023.

The deadline was an eligibility requirement, not an approximate target. Hardware had to enter production by January 1 to receive the waiver.

What the offer did—and did not—cover

The monthly service charge covered the physical environment and facility-side network handoff described in the offer. The customer remained responsible for buying the server and managing its operating system, applications, credentials, backups, data, and replacement decisions.

Waiving one month reduced the cost of evaluating an unfamiliar arrangement. It did not establish that owned hardware would be less expensive for every workload. A useful comparison also has to account for utilization, hardware life, software, administration, backup, connectivity, and the consequences of a failure.

The introductory offer has closed

The December 2022 price, deadline, address allocation, and eligibility rules are closed. They do not apply to another customer or deployment.
